The 50 Day Movie Challenge asks one question every day, to be answered by a few paragraphs and a clip, if possible. Click here to see all 50 questions in a nice and organized list. It’s such a pretty list.

TODAY: What film made you cry?

There’s only one film in the history of film that has made me bawl my eyes out, and it’s Where the Red Fern Grows (1974). Oddly, I don’t remember much from the film other than the dogs dying at the end and that it was perhaps the most traumatizing thing ever. And it wasn’t quite like Old Yeller where there was hope presented in the form of a new generation of puppy. There was a sense of finality in this film that my little heart couldn’t take. Maybe the main character had a better bond with his dogs in this film or something.

I couldn’t really find a trailer or one individual clip that best sums up the water-fest that’s Fern, so I embedded the first 15 minutes instead. Have I seen the remake starring Dave Matthews? No. Don’t plan on it either.
